Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 1887, Unknown Co. DR. J. W. GULLEY, physician and surgeon, was born in North Carolina April 24, 1836. In 1860 he moved to Arkansas, joined the Confederate Army as surgeon of the first Arkansas Regiment under Gen. Clayburn, and served until the close of the war. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia, and is regarded as a thoroughly reliable physician. In 1880 he located at Geetville, where he has since been continuously engaged in the practice of his profession. In 1866 he married Miss Appeline Suter, of Owen County, Ky., and seven children have been born to their union: Mary B., Minnie, Oscar B., Nannie S., John, Lucy A. and Josiah.
