Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Trimble Co. STEPHEN D. McINTIRE was born in Clark County, Ky., September 8, 1824, to Hugh and Sarah (Gardner) McIntire. His father was born in Virginia, moved to Kentucky and located near where our subject now resides and engaged in farming. He died in 1875, and his widow in 1876. Our subject is the fourth of eighteen children, was reared on the farm, the pursuits of which he has always followed. He now owns 300 acres of the best land in Trimble County, near Milton, and in addition to farming is also engaged in fruit growing. He married, November 7, 1844, Miss Elizabeth R. Buchanan, daughter of William and Catherine (Trout) Buchanan. Five children were born to their union: Sarah C., William H., Daniel H., Mariam and Martha M. Mrs. McIntire died in 1875, and December 21, 1884, our subject married Mrs. Julia F. Morland, widow of Frank Morland and daughter of George and Sena (Duncan) Ray. Mr. McIntire and family are members of the Christian Church. He is also a member of the I.O.O.F. and Masonic fraternity and politically a Democrat.
