(Lumsden) Luckett, was born in Clarksville, Tenn., May 3, 1848; his father was born in Virginia March, 1806, and his mother in 1813. His father emigrated from Virginia in early life, and after traveling about for some time settled in Elkton, Todd County, Ky., where he remained ten years; he then spent some twenty years of his life on a farm between Elkton and Allensville, where he died April 14, 1882. His wife ended this life January 24, 1879. In youth he learned the painter's trade, followed mercantile pursuits, and lastly agricultural industries. He was a member of the I.O.O.F., and both he and lady were consistent members of the Christian Church. J. W. Luckett was educated in Todd County, Ky., to which place he emigrated with his parents when six months old. He remained with his parents until the death of his mother, when he left home and was engaged on a farm for some three years, after which he commenced as a merchant in Daysville, Todd County, where he is now doing a profitable business. He is a devoted member of the Christian Church, and one of the prominent citizens and influential business men of the village and county.
