History of Todd County, Kentucky, ed. J. H. Battle, 1884, F. A. Battey Publishing Co., 1884, pp. 349-50. [Bivinsville Precinct] WILLIAM O. BUCKLEY, carpenter and millwright, was born July 21, 1844, in Warren County, Ky. His parents are J. H. and Levina (Johnston) Buckley, both natives of Kentucky. The father is a carpenter, still living, in Logan County, at the age of sixty-seven years. The mother died in 1863, at the age of forty-six years. The mother was, and the father is a devoted member of the Christian Church. The parents have had seven children, five of whom are now living. Our subject began for himself at the age of sixteen years. He served about three years in the Confederate Army. He was very fortunate in receiving no wounds, and had remarkably good health. His discharge date May 11, 1865. He was then at Meridian, Miss. He had no moneyed assistance in starting for himself, but now has accumulated a nice home of thirty-five acres, where his residence is located, in Bivinsville. He is a good workman and does all kinds of carpentering, and has been quite successful, considering his start. He was married November 14, 1867, to Miss Cloantha Gibson, of this county. These parents have one child--Mattie Lou. Both parents and child are members of the Christian Church. As a skilled workman he has few equals in the county.
