[Bivinsville Precinct] JOHN BROWN BIVIN was born December 2, 1828, in Muhlenburg [sic] County, Ky. He is a son of Henry and Elizabeth (Jenkins) Bivin. The father was a native of Maryland, and died in 1876, aged seventy-four. The mother was born in Virginia, and is now living with her son-in-law in this county. When about one year old, J. B. came with his parents to Todd County, Ky., and was reared on his father's farm, where he remained until the age of twenty-one. He lived on a rented farm; four years later he bought a farm of 100 acres, where he lived eighteen years. He then traded it for his present one, consisting of eighty-four acres; he owns in all 384 acres. December 13, 1849, he married Sallie A. Latham, of this county. She died in 1879, aged forty-nine years, leaving four children--Mary E., Gracie A., George H. and Martha J. His second marriage was in 1882, to Mrs. Carneal, of this county; Bertie is their child. By a former marriage, Mrs. Bivin has four children, viz.: Virginia A., Mattie, Rosa and Charles. Both parents are members of the Baptist Church.
