History of Todd County, Kentucky, ed. J. H. Battle, 1884, F. A. Battey Publishing Co., 1884, Page 359. (Town of Guthrie) R. N. ADAMS was born October 7, 1842, in Todd County; he is a son of W. D. and Frances (Grady) Adams. The father was born in Virginia in 1805; he died in March, 1876; the mother died in 1850. In about 1827 these parents came to Todd County and engaged in framing. Our subject was raised on this farm. He enlisted in 1862 in Company A in Woodward's Cavalry, and served about five months, when he returned home and continued farming. He now owns the homestead with 200 acres; also 600 acres where he now resides, and 116 acres two miles east of this point; he owns a house and lot at Morris Station and two town lots in Trenton. In April, 1881, he opened his present store, and carries a general stock of about $4,000. Mr. Adams was married in December, 1865, to Miss Mattie J. Grady, of this county, by whom he had three children--two now living. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity. Adams Grady = VA http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/todd/adams.rn.txt
