SUTT was born in Shelby County, Ky., January 14, 1860, the third of a family of eight children born to James W. and Nancy J. (Blair) Sutt. James W. was born in Shelby County, Ky. He was a wagon-maker and carpenter by trade, and was a son of Andrew Sutt. In 1864 our subject went with his parents to Jefferson County, where he was educated. In 1880 he commenced to teach school, taught two years in Jefferson County and one year in Nelson County. In 1883 he moved to Waterford, Spencer County, and bought G. C. Hickman's store, and has since been successfully engaged in general merchandising. March 1, 1882, he married Sallie Hough, of Bullitt County, Ky., daughter of Austin and Tabitha (Stallings) Hough, and one child has blessed this union, George. Mr. Sutt is a Democrat. In September 1883, he was appointed postmaster at Waterford, which appointment he still holds, and gives universal satisfaction.
