Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Shelby Co. H. C. SNIDER was born in 1852, the fifth of five children of Daniel and Sarah (Wilson) Snider, of Shelby County, but natives of Boyle County. He is descended, as his name indicates, from German ancestry, but his grandfather and grandmother came from Pennsylvania, and belong to one of the oldest and best families in the State. He was reared on the farm, and for some time was engaged in agricultural and other pursuits. In 1867 he lost all he made. In 1877 he was engaged in the photographing business, and in 1881 commenced carrying the mail. In April, 1883, he married Miss Lizzie Toombs, daughter of Joseph and Mary M. Toombs. In 1883 he moved to Shelbyville, and took charge of the finest stables in Shelby County, and where he is at present engaged. Mrs. Snider is a member of the Baptist Church.
