Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Shelby Co. ADAM B. SEAY, farmer and stock grower, was born near where he now resides, the seventh of a family of ten children born to Samuel and Susan Seay, natives of Virginia and Kentucky. Samuel Seay was the son of Austin Seay, and, coming to Kentucky, settled in Shelby County at an early day. He was a stone mason by trade, and worked at the same until his death. He married, about 1810, Susan Balee, the daughter of Peter Balee, of Shelby County. The Balee's were among the first families to settle in Shelby County. Our subject was born and reared on the farm. He is a stone and brick mason by trade, and has devoted his attention to the same in connection with farming since his boyhood. He has a very nice farm of seventy-five acres, all well improved and in a high state of cultivation in Shelby County. He is a member of the F. & A.M. fraternity, and of the Baptist Church. Politically he is a Democrat. Mr. Seay has never married. Seay Balee = VA http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/shelby/seay.ab.txt
