Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Shelby Co. JORDAN HARRIS was born in Shelby County, March 28, 1853. His father, Jordan, Sr., also a native of Shelby County, was born in 1800, a son of William and Keziah (Sneed) Harris. William and Keziah were natives of Virginia, came to Kentucky and settled in Louisville when there were but twelve houses in the place, and experienced much trouble with the Indians. Jordan Harris, Sr., married Catherine Lusk, of Clark County, Ky., daughter of David and Matilda (Adams) Lusk. Nine children were born to this union, four living: Matilda L. Stone, William D. Harris, Sallie E. Courtney and Jordan Harris. Our subject was reared in Shelby County and educated at the common schools. He has always been engaged in farming and stock raising. He owns 100 acres of land. He is a very successful farmer and trader. December 5, 1883, he married Miss Flora P. Harbison, of Shelby County, daughter of G. W. and Emma (Miller) Harbison. Mr. Harris' mother, now in her seventy-fifth year, is living with him and is a member of the Baptist Church of which he is also a member. His wife is a Presbyterian.
