BUSHROD FIGG, farmer, is a native of Shelby County, Ky., born January 23, 1839, the youngest of two sons born to Warner T. and Lucinda (Tailor) Figg, natives of Shelby County. His grandfather, James Figg, a native of Virginia, was among the early settlers of Shelby County, Ky., located first five miles south of Shelbyville, and died in 1842. His maternal grandfather, Tailor, was also a Virginian by birth, a soldier in the war of 1812, was of English extraction, settled in Shelby County prior to 1800, and died in 1866. Warner T. Figg was born in 1808 and died in 1881. Our subject received only a common-school education, but is a man of considerable learning, and keeps well posted on passing events of the time. He married, in 1871, Miss Sue Doyle, daughter of Caleb Doly [sic] (deceased), and they have six children: Leslie, Willie, Gertie, Marvin, Emmett and Stella. The family are members of the Olive Branch Church of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. Mr. Figg is a prosperous farmer, having 200 acres of land five miles south of Shelbyville.
