REYNOLDS, merchant; Stamping Ground; was born in Jefferson County, Ky., Nov. 6, 1840; his father, W. W. Reynolds, was born in Orange County, Va., in 1817; emigrated to Jefferson County, Ky. in 1835, and is now residing near Louisville, Kentucky, being engaged in an agricultural works as finisher. Mary A. Cardin, his wife, and mother of our subject, was born in Jefferson County, Ky., in 1820, and died in September, 1873; she was the daughter of John Cardin, a native of Virginia. J. T. Reynolds, our subject, received his education from the common schools of Shelby County, Ky., and also attended the Transylvania College at Lexington. In 1861, he commenced clerking in a store; in 1867, he commenced merchandising on his own account at Minorsville, his present residence; he sold out his business in 1880, and is now the proprietor and successful manager of a large store at Stamping Ground, giving employment to two clerks, he was married in Scott County, Ky., in 1851, to Miss Elizabeth F. Ferrell, a native of Jessamine County; she was born in 1851, and is the daughter of Andrew and Susan (Blakeman) Ferrell, who were natives of Virginia. Mr. Reynolds is the owner of 300 acres of land which he principally rents. He is a member of the Baptist Church. Their children are: Herman, Henry G., Susan E., Mary J. and William.
