[Scott County] [Newtown Precinct] PAYNE McCONNELL, farmer, P. O. Newtown, was born in Woodford County, in 1857; was the son of James F. McConnell, who was born in Woodford County, in 1828, and whose occupation was that of a farmer, and who died in Scott County, in 1868. The maiden name of his mother was Catharine Payne, born in Scott County, in 1838; his parents having had two children, he was educated in the primary schools of Scott County, and began life as a farmer; was married in Scott County, in 1880; his wife was Rebecca Harp, who was born in the County of Bourbon, in 1861; the father of whom was J. H. Harp, who was born in Fayette County, in 1837; her mother was Isabella Harp, born in Fayette County, in 1839. He has been engaged in the business of farming and trading; he has one child whose name is Henry Lewis; his religion being that of the Christian Church, and his politics Democrat.
