Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887. WILLIAM LANCASTER was born in Scott County, Ky., May 16, 1825, and is a son of Jonathan and Eliza (Nelson) Lancaster. Jonathan Lancaster, a son of Reuben Lancaster, was born in Scott County, Ky., and was a farmer. Reuben Lancaster, an old pioneer of the "dark and bloody ground", was a native of Virginia, and immigrated to Kentucky at an early day, where he settled in Scott County, and died there in 1850. Eliza (Nelson) Lancaster was a daughter of William and Mary (Conner) Nelson. William Nelson was a native of Virginia, and immigrated to Scott County, Ky., where he settled on a farm. William Lancaster was educated in the common schools of Scott County. In 1848 he married Miss Catherine Thomas, daughter of Jordan and Mary (Woodfork) Thomas, and nine children have blessed this happy union, viz: American F., Mary E., Spencer and Dickie, both of whom died in infancy, Nartie, who died when fifteen years old, Jo Ann, Eva, Cora B., and Willie W. Lancaster, born October 22, 1864. Jordan Thomas, the father of Mrs. Lancaster, was a Virginian by birth, but came to Kentucky at an early date. Mr. Lancaster has been a farmer all his life, and owns an excellent farm of 158 acres, which he values at $35 per acre, and is in a high state of cultivation. Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster are members of the Baptist Church, and Mr. Lancaster is a stauch Democrat.
