GORHAM, farmer, P. O. Long Lick. John A. Gorham, the father of this gentleman, was born in Fayette County, Ky., September, 1787, and died in 1853; the first part of his life was spent in the merchandising business, and previous to his death was a farmer; in 1813 he was married to Caroline Kerr, a native of Scott County; born in 1797; and died in the same house she was born in, 1877; they were the parents of ten children; David K. Gorham, being the fourth child, and the only one now living in Kentucky; he was born in Georgetown, Ky., April 19, 1822; his early life was spent in receiving an education and assisting in tilling the soil of his father's farm; in 1844, he began farming on his own account, which he has since continued in connection with school teaching, which he has done for the ast forty years, principally in the winter season; in 1842 he married Miss Martha A. Thompson, a native of Scott County, born in August 1825, she is the daughter of John K. and Louisiana (Parish) Thompson, who were native of Kentucky; at the time of the war, our subject enlisted in the Confederate Army, Co. D., 3d K.V.; he was in the battle of Chickamauga; in 1866, he was elected to serve as Constable in his native county, which office he held for four years; he is the owner of 300 acres of land in Lytle's Fork precinct; his children are George H., David L., Mary H., Katie P., Robert W., James W., Cornelia J.
