Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, ed. 8-B, 1887 Robertson County JOHN R. LINVILLE, a merchant at Mt. Olivet, was born in Robertson County, Ky., September 10, 1852, and is a son of Peter and Artemisia Linville, natives of Bracken and Fleming Counties, Ky. John R. Linville was reared a farmer, but in 1881 removed to Mt. Olivet, and entered into the dry goods business with his brother, V.L., who was born in 1857, and is now the sheriff of Robertson County. John R. Linville was Married July19, 1876, to Miss Octavia McDowell, of Robertson County, a daughter of Hiram McDowell. To this union two children have been born, Elmer and Emmet Earl. Mr. Linville, beside his mercantile business, conducts a farm of fifty acres about a mile from town. In politics he is a Democrat.
