Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., 1887, Pendleton Co. C. A. WANDELOHR, a native of Franklin County, Penn., was born January 18, 1820, and is a son of F. A. Wandelohr, who was born in Germany, in 1796, came to the United States in 1814, and engaged in sugar refining in Baltimore, but in 1832 removed to Wheeling, W. Va., where he continued the same occupation. C. A. Wandelohr came to Kentucky in 1845, and settled in Pendleton County, where he was engaged in farming about sixteen years. He was then elected clerk of the circuit court, which position he held six years, and was also appointed master commissioner, which office he filled eight years. After his retirement from office he re-engaged in farming, and now owns a farm of 180 acres in Pendleton County, besides a store house in Falmouth, rented by E. B. Morgan, a general merchant. In 1845 Mr. Wandelohr married Eleanor Mullins, who was born in Pendleton, Ky., in 1824, and was a daughter of Reuben Mullins. To this union was born five children: Mary (died in childhood), Elizabeth, James K., Charles B. and Anna. Elizabeth was married to William H. Holmes, a farmer and builder. James K., who was born in 1850, married a daughter of William Bradford. Charles B. was born in 1852; has been a resident of Sherman, Tex., about eight years, and married a daughter of E. B. Waples, of that city, but formerly of Missouri. To this marriage four children have been born. Anna Wandelohr was born in 1854, and was married to E. T. Browning of Falmouth, Ky. After the death of his first wife, in 1854, Mr. Wandelohr married Rachel Hitch in 1857, who died in 1861, having had two daughters; Mary and Cora. Mary died in infancy, and Cora married B. F. Wheeler, now of Vincennes, Ind.; she died after having a son a few years since. The third marriage of Mr. Wandelohr was Amanda Ellis, daughter of Henry Ellis, a farmer. She was born in 1833, and had one child, which died in infancy. Mr. Wandelohr is a Republican, and Odd Fellow and a Freemason.
