Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. JOEL T. WILSON was born near Eminence, Henry Co., Ky., November 24, 1849, the second son of William B. and Elizabeth (Offutt) Wilson, natives of Clark and Shelby Counties, respectively. The father of William B. Wilson was a native of Clark County, was a soldier in the war of 1812, moved to and died in Shelby County, two and a half miles north of Shelbyville. William Offutt, father of Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson, was born in Scott County, but settled in Shelby in the beginning of the present century. He was of a Presbyterian family, and was a very active man in the church. William B. Wilson is a well known in the State, and has been cashier of the Deposit Bank at Eminence for twenty years. Joel T. Wilson was educated at Eminence College, and began his business career by entering the Deposit Bank as clerk, which position he held until his removal to LaGrange, Oldham County, May 15, 1884, with a capital stock of $31,200 and Judge S. E. De Haven as president and D. H. French as vice-president. It has now a surplus of $7,000 and declares a dividend of five per cent semi-annually, its average deposits being $75,000. Mr. Wilson was married, November 15, 1877, to Miss Elizabeth, daughter of Hon. E. F. Waide of Louisville. This lady died November 24, 1882, leaving two children: William Waide and Wallace Neville. December 25, 1883, Mr. Wilson married Miss Elizabeth Cox, of Jefferson County, and to this union has been born one child, Joel Offutt. Mr. Wilson is a member of the I.O.O.F., and is also a deacon in the Baptist Church at LaGrange.
