Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. SANFORD TAYLOR, county judge of Oldham, was born in Kenton County, Ky., in 1845, and is the eldest son of W. W. and Sarah A. (Sanford) Taylor, the former a native of Oldham County. W. W. Taylor was born in March, 1823, and is a son of William Taylor, who was a close relation of Gen. Zachary Taylor, who came to Kentucky from Virginia in 1796. William Taylor at one time owned the land on which LaGrange stands, and donated the land to the county upon which the county buildings are located. Mrs. Sarah A. (Sanford) Taylor was born in Kenton County, in 1824, and is a daughter of Alexander Sanford of that county. Sanford Taylor was educated at Frankfort, and for eight years was engaged in farming, when he was appointed deputy county clerk, held the position two years, was appointed county clerk in 1874, and in 1875 was elected county and circuit clerk, serving as such until 1886, and in August of that year was elected county judge, for four years, by the Democratic party, of which he is an enthusiastic member.
