Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. ALONZO G. TAYLOR, a native of Jefferson County, was born August 14, 1834, to Pendleton and Cecelia (Baylor) Taylor, natives of Jefferson and Logan Counties, Ky. Maj. James Taylor, grandfather of Alonzo G., took an active part in the war of 1812, and was an early settler in Jefferson County. George W. Baylor, maternal grandfather, came from Virginia, and was also a pioneer of Jefferson County. Alonzo G. Taylor was an infant when his father died, but his mother survived until 1885. He was reared partly in Jefferson and partly in Oldham County, in which latter he now resides, and owns a farm of 230 acres near Goshen, and in connection with farming conducts a dairy of thirty-five Jersey cows. He is a Free Mason and a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Shiloh. December 16, 1860, he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah E. Mays, of Covington, Ky.
