Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. ISAAC C. SMITH was born in Oldham County, Ky. September 16, 1835. His father, Isaac R. Smith, was a native of Rockingham County, Va., was born in 1804, and was by occupation a farmer. He came to Kentucky in 1814, and settled in Oldham County where our subject now resides, and lived until his death, which occurred February 25, 1884. He married Matilda Clore, of Oldham County, a daughter of Solomon and Rosana (Yager) Clore. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church, and died March 7, 1884. Our subject's grandfather, Isaac Smith, was a native of Virginia, and came to Kentucky in 1814. His grandfather, Solomon Clore, was a native of Virginia, and came to Kentucky in 1810. Our subject's early life was spent on the farm, and he received his education in the common schools of Oldham County. He married, December 20, 1860, Katherine Wade, of Boyle County, and a daughter of Jeremiah and Mary (Compton) Wade. To this union six children were born: Isaac R., Jeremiah, Addie A., Mary M., Katie C. and Susan. Mr. Smith was elected justice of the peace in 1880, served two terms, and is now county clerk under Adams. He owns a fine farm of 470 acres, all of which is well improved. The family are active members of the Baptist Church. Politically Mr. Smith is a Democrat.
