IRWIN is a native of Louisville, Ky., was born August 29, 1846, and is a son of Joseph and Mary Jane (Riley) Irwin, natives respectively of Mifflin County, Penn., and Clark County, Ind. The husband of Mrs. Mary Jane Irwin was a soldier in our war with Mexico. George W. Irwin received his education in the public schools of Louisville, and from that city removed to Oldham County in 1874 and settled on a farm of 170 acres two miles from LaGrange on the Frankfort Division of the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, and is now engaged in farming and stock raising; this place is known as Spring Dale. He married Miss Julia Zollinger, who has borne him three children: Lillie, George and Harry. Mr. Irwin is a Knight of Honor, and in religion is a Presbyterian.
