Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. RICHARD NEAL GILMORE was born in Meade County, Ky., September 20, 1847, the fifth of nine children born to Benjamin and Harriet (Lane) Gilmore, natives of Meade County, Ky. His father moved to Hopkins County in 1855 with his family; he was a carpenter and cabinet-maker by trade, and worked at it all his life. Our subject learned the carpenter's trade with his father when quite young, and about 1872 moved to McLean County, where he remained until 1877. He then removed to Oldham, and purchased a small tract of land and a grist-mill. He now owns about fifty-five acres of land near Beard. February 20, 1873, he married Alcy Brown, daughter of James M. and Martha (Steele) Brown, of Oldham County. Two sons were born to their union, both now deceased. Politically Mr. Gilmore is a Republican. He is also a Master Mason. Gilmore Lane Steele Brown = Meade-KY Hopkins-KY McLean-KY http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/oldham/gilmore.rn.txt
