Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Oldham Co. JOHN R. CLORE was born in Oldham County in 1841, a son of William Clore, of Oldham County, whose father was Elijah Clore, born in Virginia in 1809. Our subject's mother was Frances Boler, a daughter of Ramsey Boler, who was probably a Virginian. Our subject, the second of five children, was reared on a farm, has always followed agricultural pursuits, and now owns about 590 acres of land in Goshen. He served in the civil war in Company C, Col. William Breckinridge's Cavalry Regiment; was captured and detained a prisoner two years at Louisville Barracks, Camp Chase, Ohio, and Fort Delaware, in Delaware Bay. In 1867 he married Miss Mollie Thomas, daughter of Middleton Thomas of Oldham. She became the mother of one child, William M., and died in 1871. In 1873 Mr. Clore married again, his second wife being Sallie, daughter of Arthur Hodges, of Clark County, Ind. The children born to this union were Arthur H. and Bertha F. The second Mrs. Clore died in 1883, and in 1884 he was united in marriage with Miss Addie, daughter of Jesse Clore, of Oldham County. Mr. Clore is a member of the Christian Church.
