A Sesquicentennial History of the Green River Missionary Baptist Church 1836 - 1986, Written and Compiled by Wendell Holmes Rone, Sr., For the One Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary of the Founding of the Church, 1987. By permission of author. Ohio County CONRAD WILLARD was called as the Thirtieth Pastor of the Church, on October 2, 1949. It is presumed that he began his ministry soon thereafter, or at least by the first of the year, 1950. Since the Minutes for November, 1949 - October, 1950, are missing, it is not certain when it concluded. It was probably in July, 1950, as Brother Howard Matthews was serving the Church by August of that year. He was a student of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary at the time, and later became one of the leading Pastors in the Southern Baptist Convention in Missouri, Georgia and Florida.
