WAUGH, farmer, P. O. Carlisle; a native of Nicholas County, where his birth occurred in 1825, a son of Archer S. (see history of S.M.) Waugh; he began life as a farmer, in which he has always been engaged; in the year 1856 he was married in Nicholas County to Mary Tune, also a native, where she was born in 1833 to Samuel T. and Mary (Hutson) Tune, who were natives of Virginia. Mr. Waugh was drafted during the late war but took no part in the service. They are members of the Presbyterian Church at Carlisle; he is independent in political matters, believing in the policy of voting for the best men to fill the responsible positions in office. He is a member of the Masonic order, a highly esteemed citizen and enterprising business man, having by his own industry and frugality accumulated a good farm of 145 acres, upon which he is engaged in general farming and high grade stock raising of all kinds.
