Oakland Mills, was born in Nicholas County, March 10, 1851; son of John and Fidella (Caldwell) Lawrence; he a native of Mason County and she of Nicholas; they had eight children. Our subject, as was his father, was raised to the life of farming, and has continued in that occupation throughout life. He received his education in the schools of his native county, and commenced the battle of life at an early age.
