HILL, physician, P. O. Moorefield, was born in Wilson County, Tenn., Feb 5, 1838, to Robert and Eliza (Harrison) Hill. Mr. Hill senior, was born in Virginia in 1778 and died in 1850. His wife was born in Wilson County, Tenn., Nov. 29, 1813, and is still living. Of the eight children born to them, Robert, our subject, was the third. He received his education at Lebanon, Tenn., and attended lectures at the Medical University at Nashville, Tenn., during the winter of '59 and '60, and graduated in the hospital service in connection with General Bragg's army during the late rebellion. He received his diploma from the Jefferson Medical College, of Philadelphia, Pa., in 1865, and began the practice of medicine at Howard's Mills, Montgomery County, Ky., the same year, where his thorough knowledge and strict attention to his profession was the foundation of a large practice. He married in Montgomery County, June 22, 1869, to Miss Mary B. Berry, who was born in the same county, April 7, 1854; she has borne to him five children, viz: Louisa, Mary E., John B., Robert W. and William P. Mrs. Hill was a daughter of John F. and Mary E. (Phelps) Berry. He was born in Montgomery County, Nov. 26, 1832, and is still living. His wife, Mary, was also a native of Montgomery County, born in 1830, and died July 20, 1863. In August, 1872, our subject purchased a house and lot in Moorefield, Nicholas County, where he moved with his family, and is still devoting his time to the duties of his calling in that locality. Outside of his profession he is a man of prominence, and was acting Deputy Clerk of the county for one year. In connection with his wife, he is a member of the Christian Church at Bethel. He is also a prominent member of the Masonic Order. In politics he is a Democrat.
