Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Monroe County. ASBERRY WHITE was born in Monroe County, Ky., December 1, 1827, where he grew up and now resides. His father, Thomas White, was born about 1799, also in Monroe County. He was a son of Thomas White, Sr., who was born in Ireland; was a soldier in the Revolutionary war, and at an early day immigrated to Kentucky, and settled in Crab Orchard, where he resided until about 1790, when he removed to Monroe County, and here he died. Thomas Sr., was a son of Peter White, who was also a native of Ireland. Thomas White, the father of our subject, married about 1825, Elizabeth, daughter of Daniel and Martha (Frazer) Payne, of Monroe County. From this union sprang Jorden, Nancy (Norman), Martha (Jackson), Elizabeth (Bushong), Amanda (Hope), Sarah (Gillentine), and John T. Asberry White married, October 19, 1865, Parmelia S., daughter of George W. and Nancy (Bryant) Bushong. To them have been born George T., Clayton G. and Birche O. Mr. White has by close economy and untiring industry, and without other assistance than such as was afforded by strong arms and a good constitution became the owner of 300 acres of well improved and productive land in a fine state of cultivation. He is a moral man, and in religion holds to the doctrine of the Christian Church. In politics he is a Republican.
