His father, Robert A. Ross, who was born in Virginia, November 29, 1808; he was a son of David Ross, also of Virginia, who was of Scotch descent. Robert Ross was twice married; first, about 1835, to Lethe Smith; to them one daughter was born. His second marriage took place, May 18, 1837, with Amanda B., daughter of Shadrack and Judith (Burnett) Turner, also of Virginia; to their union were born Albina (Turner), Joseph J., James B., Sarah E. (deceased), Lewis C. and Samuel H. Lewis C. was married December 23, 1870, to Mary A., daughter of Martin and Catharine (Kidwell) Williams; to them have been born Robert M., Joseph J., Della C., Amanda B. and Dicken K. Mr. Ross owns at present about 800 acres of land. He is a believer in the doctrines of the Christian Church, and in politics a Democrat. David Ross was married to Sarah Anderson; there were born to them twelve sons and three daughters. He was a son of Daniel Ross, who was married to Elizabeth Gath. Sarah Anderson was a daughter of John Anderson, who was married to Mary Wood. Shadrack Turner was a son of John Turner, who was married To Elizabeth Price, of French descent. Judith Burnett was a daughter of John Burnett, of Irish descent, who was married to Elizabeth Tate. Martin Williams was a son of John Williams, who was married to Mary Pace, who was a daughter of Langston Pace, who was married to Milly Nunn. Katharine Kidwell was a daughter of William Kidwell, who was married to Fannie Dicken.
