JONES was born March 21, 1851, on the place where he now resides, on the bluff of Cumberland River, in Monroe County, Ky. His father, David Jones, was also born on this place in 1807, where he has spent his life and still resides on the same farm. He is the son of Flemming Jones, who was born near Crab Orchard and died here in 1843. His father was Richard Jones. David married Nancy, daughter of Thomas Williams, and from their union sprang Stephen, George F., Robert A., subject, and Mary E. (Pinkley). John G. Jones attended the common schools of the county and obtained a good education. He married, April 23, 1879, Mary F., daughter of Henry and Sallie (Nethery) Norris, of Cumberland County, Ky. (born 1859), and to them have been born Marvin, Ervin and Pearlie. Mr. Jones is a farmer, having 125 acres of valuable Cumberland River land, which is in a fine state of cultivation. In his politics Mr. Jones is a Democrat. Mrs. Jones is a Methodist.
