Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 3rd ed., 1886. Monroe County. HALL S. GEE was born August 5, 1828, in Turkey Neck Bend, Monroe Co. Ky., where he grew to manhood, and in 1856 located on the west side of the Cumberland River, where he now resides. His father, John B. Gee, a native of Virginia, was born in 1801; removed, in infancy, with his parents to Monroe County, Ky., where he died. He was the son of James Gee, one of the first settlers in the Bend. John B. married Anna, daughter of William Simms, of Monroe County - born 1799, died 1848 - and to them were born William J., Lucy J. (Williams), Elizabeth J. (Hutchens), Hall S., Mary R. (McMillin), Sarah E. (deceased), Almarinda A., Sack J., John B. and Thornton H. In youth Hall S. obtained a common English education. He has never married but has assisted in rearing two families of orphan children. He is a farmer, having 117 1/2 acres of productive land, in good condition.
