A HISTORY OF THE DAVIESS-McLEAN BAPTIST ASSOCIATION IN KENTUCKY, 1844-1943 by Wendell H. Rone, Probably published in 1944 by Messenger Job Printing Co., Inc., Owensboro, Kentucky. Used by permission. p. 253. McLean Co. SAMUEL ANDERSON: Of this man we have learned but little. He was a very successful preacher in the Goshen Association after its organization in 1817, often serving as the Missionary. Records show that he pastored Goshen and New Hope Churches in Breckenridge County and others. He, with Elders Philip Warden and Job Hobbs, constituted Tanner's Meeting House Church in 1812. This is now Buck Creek Church in McLean County. We do not know the dates of his birth and death but they must have been about the years 1785 and 1845 respectively. His name is noted among the presbytery at the organization of Mt. Liberty Church in 1840, the other member being Elder Thomas Downs. From here we lose all account of his useful life. We know that his Heavenly record is far better than this imperfect sketch. The two Churches in this Association that he helped to found stand today as monuments to his memory.
