KENTUCKY: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 4th ed., 1887, Marion Co. FRANKLIN ANDERSON was born September 22, 1851. His father William Anderson, was also a native Kentuckian, born in 1821, and married Miss Millie Weatherford in 1844. She died in 1878, leaving eight children, all of whom are living: Letitia (Edrington), Paralee (Drye), Mary J. (Wilcher), Millie (McCain), Franklin, Pauline (Beeler), Lucinda (Coppage) and William. Millie Weatherford was born in 1820. She was a daughter of George and Millie Weatherford, both of whom were of English descent and natives of Virginia, and later, residents of Casey County, Ky. William Anderson was a farmer, and for many years resided on the farm where he died on the 18th of December 1878, three days prior to the death of his wife on the 21st of the same month. Both were consistent members of the Christian Church and died in that faith. The father of William Anderson was a Virginian, who was among the first settlers of Casey County, Ky. Franklin Anderson was born in Casey County and raised on his father's farm, and during his boyhood received a fair education in the common schools of his native county; at the age of twenty-one he was free to follow his inclinations, and having a love for agricultural pursuits, remained at farming, with which in 1855 he connected the business of distilling brandy. He has met with some reverses in life, but through energy and perseverance, connected with business tact, he has steadily increased his gains. He is now the owner of a farm of 400 acres of fine farming land, lying on the waters of South Rolling Fork, in Marion County. He was married to Bettie Coppage on the 29th of October, 1872. To this union is born one daughter, Alta (February 7, 1876). Mrs. Bettie (Coppage) Anderson was born August 7, 1855. She is a daughter of Fielden and Sarah (Kemper) Coppage, the former of Marion County (died in 1858) and the latter of Montgomery County (living, aged sixty-six years). Mrs. Anderson is a life-long member of the Christian Church; Mr. Anderson, though not a member, is a patron of the church; his political views are Democratic; he takes a live interest in schools and public enterprises generally, and he has for some years held the office of school trustee.
