SIDNEY KERLY TURNER, the son of Joseph Turner, a former Master, was born 
July 29, 1819 in Richmond, Kentucky.  He had all the advantages common 
to such youths of his day, was prepared for college and entered Yale 
with the class of 1841.  For some reason he failed to complete his 
course, returned home and engaged in business.  He was, as was his 
father, a Whig in polities. An uncompromising Union man in 1861 and to 
the day of his death a strong Republican. He was for many years engaged 
in the Internal Revenue Service. A handsome, pleasing gentleman, a 
delightful story-teller, he was a most agreeable companion. He was 
initiated and passed June, 1852, raised in July, 1852. He was elected 
Master, December, 1853, after having served one year as Senior Warden. 
He served as Master one year only. There is no record that he advanced 
farther in Masonry and he demitted from the Lodge in March, 1858. He 
married in early life a daughter of Allen Embry, a most lovely Christian 
woman. Mr. Turner died December 4, 1893. His remains were buried in the 
local cemetery.
