GREENLEAF was born in Lancaster, Kentucky, September 8, l850, being the son of William Greenleaf and Lucinda Stevens. He was educated at the public schools and early embarked in business. He came to Richmond in 1870 as the representative of the Adams Express Company. Shortly afterward he was elected bookkeeper and teller in the First National Bank of Richmond and has ever since been connected with the banking business. He is now cashier of the Southern National Bank. His friends are numbered only by his acquaintances. He married first, Miss Annie Busby, daughter of an early Master of the Lodge. And after her death Miss Ida Jennings. Mr. Greenleaf was made a Mason February 23, 1875, passed March 26, 1875, and raised April 27, 1875. He received Chapter degrees the same year, 1875, and was Knighted in Richmond Commandery August, 1875. He has filled nearly all the stations in the various bodies. Became Master December, 1878, serving one year. High Priest of Richmond Chapter in 1882 and again in 1899. Elected Commander of his Commandery in 1880. Social, polite, modest, he has all the qualities calculated to make and hold friends. While never seeking public station, he was elected mayor of Richmond, serving one term.
