CURTIS FIELD, JR., the son of Curtis Field and Rosanna Hardin was born 
in Madison County, December 3, 1822.  He was on both paternal and 
maternal sides descended from Revolutionary stock.  He was educated at 
the Madison Seminary, Transylvania, and completed his law course at 
Harvard University.  He came to the local bar about 1845 and practiced 
his profession until the beginning of the war in 1861.  Was 
Representative in the Kentucky Legislature in 1857, having been elected 
after a race so heated that the tradition of it still exists.  Judge 
Field moved to Missouri in 1866 where he lived until his death in May, 
1890.  He engaged while in Missouri in banking and was a very successful 
business man.  Courteous, intelligent, honorable, he made friends at all 
stages of his life and died honored and respected by all who knew him.  
His remains were brought back to his native County for burial, and were 
interred with Masonic honors as he had requested.  He was made a Mason 
in 1846, elected Master in June, 1849, and again elected June, 1851, 
succeeding in both instances his cousin, Curtis Field Burnam.  He was 
High Priest of Richmond Royal Arch Chapter, 1854.  He never removed his 
membership from his mother Lodge, preferring as he said to keep this tie 
with our people.  He married Martha Richardson of Louisville.  To them 
were born a large number of children, many of whom are dead, the others 
residing in distant states.
