LOCKHART, Logan County, was born in 1825, in Simpson County, this State, and is a son of Thomas and Nancy (Bryant) Lockhart, the former a native of Georgia, and the latter of Virginia. The elder Lockhart came to Kentucky and settled in Simpson County, where he is still living. John C. lived on the farm until grown, receiving an ordinary education in the schools of Logan and Simpson Counties. He has been twice married. First to Rutha Stahl, daughter of David and Elizabeth Stahl, of Simpson County. She was the mother of one child, Volney, and died some two years after her marriage. Two years later Mr. Lockhart married Louisa, a daughter of William and Nancy Johnson, of Logan County. They had nine children, six of whom are living: Nannie, Ettie, Johnson, Angie, Charles and Nellie. John N., Mary E. and Thomas are dead. A few years aftr his second marriage Mr. Lockhart moved to Logan County, where he now lives. He is a good farmer and has a well cultivated and highly improved farm.
