Johnson County

DR. N.K. WILLIAMS was born in Carter County, Ky., February 14, 1849, a son
of Lucas and Elizabeth (Picklesimer) Williams, natives respectively of North
Carolina and Floyd County, Ky.  Lucas Williams came to Kentucky when a boy
with his father, Robert Williams, and settled in Floyd County.  He took part
in the civil war, in the Fifth Kentucky Cavalry, under Gen. Marshall, and
died in the army.  Dr. N.K. Williams was educated at the Kentucky
University, Lexington, and studied medicine under Dr. F.M. Picklesimer, of
Johnson County.  He began practice in 1871 in Johnson County, and remained
three years, when he went to Prestonburg, Floyd County, and practiced four
years.  He has served as police judge four years.  The Doctor married, in
1871, Levina Castle, of Johnson County, daughter of William Castle, of
Carter County.  She died in 1877, and the following year Dr. Williams
married Josie Howes, a daughter of John and Jane (Young) Howes, of Johnson
County.  They have three children: Madge, Blanche and Kit.  Dr. Williams is
a member of the M.E. Church, and of the Flat Gap Masonic Lodge, No. 5.  In
politics he is a Democrat.
