Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co. HENRY MACKEY is a son of J. B. and Agnes (Putoff) Mackey, native of Amsterdam, Holland. J. B. Mackey for many years followed the sea and then located in Cincinnati, Ohio, where, for a time, he engaged in cabinet making. In 1856 he came to Jessamine County and purchased a farm, which he cultivated until his death in 1859. Henry Mackey, the second son, was born July 9, 1845, was educated at the common schools, and remained on the homestead until 1869, when he found employment with E. J. Curley & Co., as watchman, and later as a mash hand, retaining the latter position seven years. He was next appointed general distiller for the company, which position he has held the past eight years. Mr. Mackey is still unmarried.
