Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co. THOMAS A. HOOVER, born six miles southwest of Nicholasville, April 8, 1829, is the eldest son of D. S. and Elizabeth (Walters) Hoover. D. S. Hoover, born in the county on January 14, 1799, was a cooper by trade, also sold goods, and was engaged in stock raising and farming; he died on June 13, 1854. Elizabeth Hoover, born in 1815 in Jessamine County, died September 19, 1883. Thomas A. Hoover has always farmed, is also engaged in selling goods, and has sold goods in the same house for twenty-four years, to October 1, 1887; his residence and store are located on the Mount Freedom and Jessamine County Turnpike, four miles west of Nicholasville. He was married, November 10, 1857, to Miss Mollie C. Smith, of Jessamine County, daughter of Andrew and Sophia (Yost) Smith. One child has blessed this union, Sallie B., married to K. Stone, of Georgetown, Ky. Mr. and Mrs. Hoover are members of the Christian Church at Nicholasville.
