LaFAYETTE ENGLISH was born July 22, 1835, the eldest son of William H. and Sarah (White) English, natives of Virginia and Madison County, Ky. William H. English was born in 1804; came to Jessamine County about 1813, was engaged in farming, and died September 13, 1857. In 1871 LaFayette English went into the mercantile business at Mount Lebanon. He now owns seventy- one acres in Sulphur Well District. August 13, 1860, he was married to Miss Sarah Underwood, daughter of Perry Underwood (deceased), native of Jessamine County, a Mason, and member of the Christian Church. Mr. and Mrs. English have eleven children: Mary J., William R., James E., Christopher C., Maggie, Green B., Minnie B., Laura U., John P., Grover C. and Robert K.
