JACOB BURRIER is the son of John and Rebecca (Huffel) Burrier, the former a native of Maryland, born in 1764, and died in 1839, in Fayette County, Ky.; the latter died in 1845. They were the parents of six children: Samuel, Ann (Mrs. Morgan Smedley), Jacob, Rebecca, John and William. Jacob Burrier was born in Fayette County, February 6, 1808, where he was reared and employed as a farmer until twenty-five years of age, when he moved to Jessamine County, and purchased his present place of 265 acres on the Keene and South Elkhorn Pike, two miles from Keene.
