JOHN BURDINE was born in Jessamine County, February 26, 1825, eldest son of Linsey and Matilda (Gomer) Burdine. Linsey Burdine was born in Pulaski County, Ky., in 1796; was of Virginia ancestry; was a farmer all his life and died in 1848. Mrs. Matilda Burdine was born in Garrard County, Ky., and died in 1856. John Burdine has been engaged in farming and stock raising all his life in Jessamine County. He was married, January 12, 1854, to Miss Emma, daughter of Nathaniel and Atha (Fane) Hunter, and to their union have been born six children, four living, viz: Elijah, Maggie (Burdine) Cobb and Tillford, and two dead, William and John.
