Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 5th ed., 1887, Jessamine Co. MOREAU BROWN, a son of George I. Brown and Sallie Perry, was born in Jessamine County, Ky., in the year 1815, and died in 1875. He married Sallie E. Price in 1845, who made him a loving and true wife. He greatly admired her virtues and accomplishments. They both labored and loved together in all of the proper walks of life. Especially when they of one mind and heart in the upbuilding of Christ's kingdom, and in their efforts to direct the minds of the young in the ways of Christianity. He, like his father, had no patience with idleness, but was willing to spend and be spent in every moral and honest enterprise that promised a good result. His will power was quite demonstrative, with rather an impulsive temperament, but both backed by good judgment. His general character may be set forth in this declaration, that he "belonged to God, to religion, to mankind." His ambition was was more to be commended than otherwise. When he engaged to do anything he seemed to act as though if the obligation demanded the sacrifice of personal interest to gain the end, even that must be set aside. Probably no private citizen accomplished more good, or exerted a wider degree of influence, than did Mr. Moreau Brown in the sphere of his action. His estate at his death was about $120,000. This is only a meager outline of what might be said of Mr. Brown in connection with the history of Jessamine County.
