Kentucky: A History of the State, Perrin, Battle, Kniffin, 8th ed., 1888, Jefferson Co. EDWARD R. SPURRIER is a native of Nashville, Tenn., and was born July 28, 1832. He is a son of Edward Spurrier, a native of Maryland, who emigrated to Tennessee at an early day. Subject received a common school education in the schools of Nashville, and in 1861 joined the First Regiment of Tennessee Volunteers, as a private; was promoted to a lieutenancy in 1863, and served until the close of the war. In 1865 he came to Louisville, and engaged in hotel business on Sixth street, between Main and Market, for about five years. He then formed a partnership with J. Sues, for the manufacturer of baby carriages, which continued from 1871 until 1882, when he went into the real estate business, which he still follows. In 1867 he was married to Miss Eliza J.
