GEORGE DENISON PRENTICE. Although not a native of Kentucky, in 1830, when twenty-seven years old, became a resident for life. (See sketch, under Jefferson County, in Volume II of this work.) His fame as poet, editor, and statesman belongs to Kentucky. Besides the short poems below, he wrote a number of other pieces - which are now (Feb., 1874) being gathered for the press in an enduring volume: among them - "The Flight of Years," "The Dead Mariner," "Sabbath Evening," and "The Stars." [Note, poems shown included "The Close Of The Year," "Mammoth Cave," "Written At My Mother's Grave."] Prentice = none http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/kybiog/jefferson/prentice.gd.txt
