MATTIE GRIFFITH Was born in Louisville, Ky., about 1833. As she grew up, and developed a love for poetry, she became a favorite contributor to the Louisville Journal. Her poems were published in 1853, in New York City, in a thin volume. Before 1860, she removed to Boston, and devoted herself to writing poems and tales for New York and Boston Journals.
