Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Henry Co. W. T. WILLIAMS was born in Greensburg, Ind., July 31, 1834, and was the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Carter) Williams. Charles Williams was born in Shelby County, April 16, 1810. His father and mother came from Virginia to Kentucky, and settled at Bryant Station. It was near Lexington before it was incorporated as a town. He lived there two or three years in an Indian fort; subsequently he moved to Shelby County, where he remained ten or twelve years, then moved to Henry County and remained there until 1833, when he went to Indiana. Charles Williams was married in 1833 in Henry County, Ky., to Elizabeth Carter. Remaining in Indiana only one year they came back to Kentucky. W. T. Williams was only six weeks old when they came back. He was married February 9, 1858 to Elizabeth T. Maddox, daughter of Miles and Ellen Maddox, and had born to him eight children: Mattie Bell, William Charles, Emery, Miles, Joseph, Billey, James and John. Mr. Williams is at present the senior partner in the firm of Williams & Johnson, proprietors of the livery, feed, sales and training stables at Eminence.
