Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Henry Co. L. M. SANFORD, president of the New Castle National Bank, was born in Henry County, Ky., September 15, 1824, a son of Charles and Martha (Major) Sanford. Charles was born in Virginia in 1791, a son of Daniel Sanford, who was also a native of Virginia; immigrated to Kentucky in 1798 and settled in Bourbon County. He was a son of Richard Sanford. Mrs. Martha Sanford was born in Woodford County, a daughter of John Major. Our subject was married December 21, 1869, to Miss Fannie M. SMith, of St. Louis, Mo., and daughter of A. O. and Harriet (Hunter) Smith. To this union were born nine children, eight of whom are living: Charles, Abraham, Major, Hallie, Hunter, Jamie, Fannie and Marie. Mr. and Mrs. Sanford are members of the Christian Church, as is also their son Charles. Mr. Sanford has been director in the National Bank at New Castle for fourteen years and is now president. He is also an enterprising farmer, is pleasantly located on 525 acres near New Castle, and is deeply interested in all that pertains to agriculture. He is one of the wealthiest men in Henry County.
